HOW WE STARTED RIVER THISTLE SPA

WELLNESS WITHOUT THE TOXINS

From our inception we have used non toxic products in our services. In 2024 we made a promise to work towards using non toxic cleaners when sanitizing our environment. That promise has been upheld without losing the integrity of a well sanitized spa.

Some of the ways we have made the switch with our sanitization are by making mindful switches. In other ways, we moved from toxicity was by upgrading. We added an autoclave for medical grade cleaned utensils. We use nontoxic but powerful detergent that is safe for sensitive skin and allergens for all laundry.

All products that are used on clients have been checked by quality control to insure yours and our safety. We continue to strive to find skin care and other wellness products that are affective but safe.

Using toxic products once in a while should not be as impactful as being exposed to it multiple times a day.

Our service providers are being exposed to the same products all day everyday. We want to ensure their longevity and health.

“Safety is a priority not only for the client but also for the service providers.”

We offer different nail polish brands such as Zoya, PLA, and The Gel Bottle that are nontoxic or are continuing to switch ingredients to become safer for the consumer.

We have a multitude of options for massages including: cremes, oils, shea butter, and gels. During your intake we ask if you have any sensitivities or allergens that we need to be aware of.

Most of the products that we use are also available for purchase at the front desk. The candles, deodorants, lotions, soaps, and skincare are all non toxic, while also being affective and aesthetically pleasing. If you have any questions about how we made the switch or why

Karen Coltharp RYT 500

Yoga Instructor

Hi, I’m Karen! I love guiding slow, gentle flows practices that invite you to breathe deeply, soften, and reconnect to your body and your heart.

In 2023, I began yoga teacher training with no intention of teaching, I simply wanted to deepen my own practice. But somewhere along the way, I fell in love with nurturing others through movement. I completed my 200-hour foundational training at Vedic Lotus Yoga in 2023, followed by a Children’s Yoga Certification, and then my 300-hour advanced training at Heartwood Yoga in 2024. I am registered with Yoga Alliance as a RYT-500 yoga teacher.

My classes are a blend of breath and mindful movement, created to help you feel grounded and present. For me, yoga is about connection — with ourselves, with each other, and with the quiet moments that bring us home.

Kellee Fletcher RYT 500

Yoga Instructor

Hi, I’m Kellee Fletcher, a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) with Yoga Alliance and part of the River Thistle Spa family here in beautiful Batesville, Arkansas. My yoga journey began back in 2019, when I first discovered how powerful mindful movement and breath could be in finding balance — both on and off the mat. What started as a personal practice soon grew into a desire to share yoga with others.

I completed my foundational teacher training in 2023 through Vedic Lotus Yoga. Continuing to learn is a big part of my path — I’ve completed additional training in Yoga Anatomy and the Art of Teaching Beginners with renowned teacher, Jason Crandell, and in December 2024, I earned my Advanced Teacher Training certification through his program. That same month, I also had the honor to train with Judith Hanson Lasater diving deeper into the art of restorative yoga. Through my training with Judith, I began to understand how critically important it is to down regulate our nervous systems, so we can better manage and maintain our health, relationships, and happiness.

At River Thistle Spa, I love creating a space where movement meets mindfulness — where every class invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with yourself. My approach blends thoughtful sequencing, functional movement, and a heart-centered awareness that welcomes all bodies and experience levels.

Whether you’re stepping onto the mat for the first time or returning to your practice, my hope is that you leave feeling refreshed, grounded, and nourished — body, mind, and spirit.
